Wow. . . [Jun. 11th, 2006|01:53 pm]
[How I'm feeling: | cheerful]

So, I haven't updated in a LONG TIME. I got busy. . .a number of concerts, rehearsals like mad, opera, Music in May, all of that. But, it's done now. We just got internet in my house again, so now I can use my laptop wirelessly. *sigh of contentment* Anyway, not much is going on. I got a job at the Oregonian. . .in the mailroom. Which consisted of me standing for 7 hours a day. . .not neccessarily at the same time. I may work from 7 to 11 in the morning, go home, come back for the 11:30 to 3:30 at night shift. . .yeah. Didn't work for me, so I quit. Seeing as I have a job at Best Buy anyway. Although, I took the drug test last Friday (Like June 2nd Friday) and they said they would call me Monday with the results and when training is and all that. . .they haven't. So now I'm worried. Tomorrow I'm gonna go in and have a chat, see what's up. It'll be nice. Home Theater dept. Selling things. . .working with people. . .it's a good life. Other than that. . .not too much goin' on. That's about it. . .I'm still alive though. Still kickin'.

Yup.

I feel cool. [Mar. 14th, 2006|01:30 am]
So. . .I feel cool. Why? Because my school was mentioned in a Comedy Goldmine. Linked here: http://www.somethingawful.com/articles.php?a=3650&p=3

Anyway. . .I thought it was cool. Plus, it's so very very very true. Stupid water bottles.

Grrrr.

Wooooooo. [Feb. 8th, 2006|09:54 pm]
[How I'm feeling: | complacent]

So, slowly but surely I'm forgetting to update my livejournal. Amongst other things I'm forgetting to do. Hopefully, I'll keep up with this one enough to continue to update the few people who I think still check their livejournals abreast of my current situation.

So. . .January. . .what should be said? Not too much. Didn't take winter III (one class every day, same class for three weeks) just stayed on campus and hung out. Slept in. Ate. Played games. Sang. Wrote music. Lived the life I hope to live one day. Ha ha ha. But, February revealed itself and classes had to start again. I WAS taking 18 credits, but because the Jazz Band needed a jazz pianist. . .events worked themselves out so that I am in jazz band and jazz choir now instead. So, that gives me 4 choirs, private voice lessons, a band, and I'll be trying out for an opera on campus here fairly soon. Tuesday, in fact. But, I'm also taking music theory, history of world music, and spanish. Yea fun! It's going to be a lot of work, but it'll be worth it if I get used to this kind of music load.

Valentine's Day is coming up. Have I ever mentioned how much I HATE that holiday? Last year's entry sums it up nicely. Although, it's a little emo looking back on it. But, I had good reason. Anyway, after Valentine's day comes my birthday. Woooo. Another year gone by. I'll probably be at home for most of my birthday weekend, simply because I have a gig in Oregon City on the 25th. (Thanks Chelsea) So, I guess I'm kind of excited. I dunno. I've started not liking my birthday more and more. I don't know why. Nothing to do with getting older. . .just. . .not looking forward to them. I dunno. I guess I'm weird.

Not much else to note. School takes up most of my life, and that's cool. Occasionally, a social life is permitted, and that's always fun. And now I'm tired, and seeing as I don't have class until 1 tomorrow. . .I'm going to sleep a lot tonight. :)

G'night all!

Obligatory Christmas Update [Dec. 26th, 2005|12:30 pm]
[How I'm feeling: | calm]

Once again, Christmas came and went. A little differently this year, what with the kids being at their dads on Christmas, and the family meeting on Christmas eve instead of Christmas day, but all in all, it was a good year. With a good haul too. Now onto the presents!

-An electric pencil sharpener
-A nice pair of headphones.
-Gloves that don't have finger-tips. That way when it's cold in my room, I can continue typing.
-2 Surge protectors. . .top quality.
-A couple nice new shirts.
-A new jacket
-Electronic duster wipes
-Andrea Bocelli's "Sentimento" Amazing CD, amazing voice.
-A Family Guy Themed Poker set
-A game called "Don't Make Me Laugh"
-A NEW WALLET! WOOO!
-Couple pairs of very nice sunglasses. (Classy pair, and a sporty pair)
-$30 to Barnes and Noble (Already used for buying "Sweeney Todd" on DVD)
-A movie package, including popcorn, candy, and $20 to Hollywood Video/Game Crazy
-A Starbucks card with $10 on it. (Used for Apple Cider and hot cocoa. . .no coffee here)
-$30 to Best Buy (Coupled with $20 this will go a long way)

Anyway, besides socks and boxers, that about does it. Good haul overall. As for everything else in life, it's goin' pretty okay. We got a puppy a couple weeks ago. It's a Schnauzer-poodle mix. He's adorable, very lovey, and he likes me the best! :-D The cats hate him of course, but oh well. Too bad for them. Grades came out, and except for one class, very decent grades. (AKA A's and B's) Well, I'm gonna go. Snoopy (The Puppy) is curling up in my lap, which means he wants attention. Later!

I'm going to update for the month of November! [Nov. 8th, 2005|12:24 am]
[How I'm feeling: | nervous]
[music |Tu Ci Sei - Andrea Bocelli]

Yea! It's November, and I can hardly believe it! I've been in college for two whole months. . .and I still take time walking around campus just thinking about how weird it is that I'm in college. I didn't think I'd make it. Sometimes, I still think that. . .

Not all of my classes are going so well. Namely my history of Latin America class. I'm really not learning anything, due to my own laziness really, but that's because when I saw my credit report, I realized what credits that class was not offering me. It's a cultural requirement. . .but. . .I would have gotten that credit from taking History of World Music. . .so. . .crap. I'm totally not doing well in that class, but I'm also taking 17 credits. So, if I drop it. . .or something, I'd have 14 or 15. Which is not bad. I'm staying for Winter III, so that's another few credits. And then I need at least 30 credits total. . .so spring I can take a few less, or keep up the course load to get a little ahead of the game. *NEWS UPDATE* Upon discussing this with my friend Katherine. . .turns out today was the last day to drop a course. . .poop. Oh well. I'll talk to Seward and see what can work out for me. He seems like a nice guy. . .I'm just swamped. ANYWAY. . .now I just need to think about what I'm going to do next semester . . .no clue. Yea college!

Personal life is going pretty well. Being single sucks. . .but it's also fun at the same time. I can't really explain it. It's kind of like. . .complacency. Which in and of itself is not a great thing. . .but c'est la vie. I miss my high school friends. But. . .I love my college friends, definitely great memories. ESPECIALLY Halloween. Ha ha ha, great story. Sit down and stay awhile. Let me tell you.

So, my friends Adam and Katherine were discussing what to do for Halloween as a group, and last year they all went as superheroes. . .so one of them came up with the idea to go as supervillains. Adam expounded upon the idea by writing fake newspaper articles from the Daily Planet and Daily Bugle (Yeah, we mixed D.C. and Marvel. Wanna make something of it? Punks?!) and putting them out on the dinner tables anonymously a few times a week. These articles outlined certain supervillains (Such as Lex Luthor) releasing other villains from Arkham Asylum, etc. And then, the last few were about the supervillains killing off superheroes. (Kind of depressing) The last one was an article detailing that the newly formed "League of Villains" was heading for Pacific University. At this point we had all chosen a supervillain, I was The Joker, and rumours of our appearance at the Halloween dance were spreading. And boy. . .did we create a stir. Many head turns and stares. Then of course, we proceeded to "steal" the small school mascot. (Which the club we're all in already possessed. It's a long detailed story I don't even know all of it, that I will not get into) Anyway, long story short, we're freaking amazing, especially the planners behind this amazing plot. Then we dressed up again on Halloween to scare the kids, and I went home to see my brothers, and then next day interview Mr. Davis for my education class. I also stopped in to see Scove and A-choir. (Oh man. . .the gasp I got from entering the room, it made my day. :) ) Then I went back to Pacific. All in all, quite an eventful week.

Anything else note-worthy? I'm going to STOP BITING MY NAILS. Bad habit will go away. It must. No questions asked. Concert this Friday night. It's gonna rock. Out of the three choirs performing. . .I'm in all three. The whole concert is about ME! Ha ha ha, not really, but my face will be around a lot. I even have an entire song to myself! It's funny, and filled with innuendos. My favorite! Earlier that day, I will be singing for the board of trustees. . .so I'm nervous about that. Cramming German lyrics into my brain so that I'll at least feel prepared. Next Tuesday I'll be performing for the Music Majors, and some of the minors in a performance forum. YEAH PERFORMING FOR PEERS! *gulp* I'm nervous about that as well. But. . .as soon as next week is over A LOT of stress will be off of my shoulders. I'll have a little more money in my pocket, and I'll be much happier. Poor Corey. . .all over the place. . .eep. I've also got to go to the DEQ to get my tags renewed. Pointless BS. . .cost me $80. . .I'm gonna bash some skulls if I don't pass.

Well, once again, I've found myself writing WAY too much. And I'm pretty confident very few people read this as it is, but I like to humour myself by writing out my thoughts and then posting them where the world can see them. What is up with that? Well, over and out!

Lack of updating = Death? [Oct. 10th, 2005|01:40 am]
[How I'm feeling: | hungry]
[music |Slip Slidin' Away - Paul Simon]

I haven't updated in a while. At least not with news.

Life has been rough. Upwards, downwards, side-ways. . .the same old stuff that I've been seeing for the past few months. Hopefully, most of the worst is over. I'm ready to be happy again. (For those of you with MySpace check the post prior to the most recent to see what I'm doing)

In other news, music. . .is going great. I've got two beautiful songs I'm singing. I've got my Josh Groban book back. . . and I find myself playing piano more and more. The accompaniminiminist that we use for Chamber Singers was actually very impressed and said that I should consider doing what she does. *gulp* I like playing piano. . .but that's too much pressure. Plus, I don't think I'm that good. Besides that, picking up my newest instrument really quickly, and I couldn't be happier. I'm in three choirs, Chamber, Choral Union, and Early Music. (Think CAVS, A-choir, and a renaissance choir) All three have different directors, and each of them are uniquely awesome, and offer differing styles of teaching, and I learn by example. I'm learning a lot from these fine men. They've already taught me volumes just from teaching their classes.

Something weird I've noticed. . .I have met three people with perfect pitch since coming to college. Not all of them are musicians. They just have it. I didn't know anybody in high school who did. Are there people at Clackamas, or who used to go to Clackamas that have perfect pitch? Are you afraid of coming out of the pitch closet? Well, whatever.I think it's cool. Not an ability I wish I necessarily had. . .but it might be cool. My tonal memory is actually pretty good, so I'm not too worried.

What else? Classes are pretty good. My education class is boring me to death, but that's mostly because of the teacher. He has no clue what hes doing. So, I don't think I'll be losing the Ed. part of my major anytime soon. I still love teaching. FYS (read Humanities) is alright. But, this is a freshman course, not like a cool upper level class like it was in high school. So, I've got all types in that class. It's alright though. Everyone in that class is pretty cool. Except for the mentor. . .he bugs me. But, I'm not going to get into that. Oh boy. . .history of Latin America, is actually interesting. I really should take more/better notes. But, the topic is interesting. Then again, I've always been interested in the period of history between 1000 AD and 1700 AD. Very cool chunk of history. Hence, why I'm enjoying my Early Music Choir a lot too.

I've got a couple concerts coming up. I dunno how good they're going to be. At least not until the winter concert. . .or possibly the November one. Anyway, it's gonna be fun. I'm going to do a student recital, probably sometime in November, which is basically for the students to perform in front of fellow students. It'll be cool. That, and singing for the college board of trustees. EEEK! Very excited for that! I love these opportunities that are being given to me. All thanks to Scott. . .well both really. Scott Davis, and Scott Tuomi. And they keep growing. The upperclassmen in choir are very impressed with me, or at least that's the vibe I've been getting, and so that has been positive.

Friends? Well, I have made a few. I hang out with a group of really cool people. . .mostly upperclassmen. (What is it with me being so popular with upperclassmen? Even in high school! Ha ha ha.) Anyway, they've brought me into their group, and it guarantees a LOT of laughs everyday at lunch or dinner when I see them. Then there are the few friends I have met through choir and such. All a great bunch. . .I just need to work on opening this wall in front of my heart that has ammassed during the end of my senior year and summer. But, not too much. I'm definitely NOT wearing my heart on my sleeve anymore. But . . .anyway. . .not too much else has changed.

All in all, college is proving to be a great experience. Pacific is an awesome school too. Great people, great programs. . .great campus. If you're going to be a freshman in college next year, and you're looking at music, or optometry, dentistry, pharmacology, or. . .well a lot of other things, check out Pacific. It's a private school yes, but they offer so many scholarships. . .makes it as expensive, or less than public schools. And recruiting portion over. (checks boxes in log to get paid. Just kidding)

Well, its 2 AM and I have a 9 AM class. . .music theory. . .wooo. . .bunch of stuff I already know. . .oh well. It'll pick up here soon. ANYWAY, I have written FAR too much, and I am tired. So. . .to anyone who may be reading, have a good night!

Well. . .it MIGHT be a good idea. . . [Sep. 23rd, 2005|07:06 pm]
[How I'm feeling: | contemplative]
[music |Billy Joel - My Life]

So, if you read my MySpace, feel free to skip this. But, if you don't. . .A new idea has come to my brain. Put there by the same guy who said it would be good for me to come to Pacific U. So far, he is not wrong. I'm loving it here. But, this new idea is that, maybe I should go for my doctorate in music education, or something like that. Dr. Corey Christiansen. Weird huh? Well. . .anyway, I'm just tossing that idea around. I know I have to get my masters if I want to teach in Oregon. (Well, they WANT you to.) But, a doctorate? Four more years of school or so? Might be worth it. . .who knows. Questions? Comments? Concerns? Death threats? Wait. . .not that last one.

KISS!? I GET TO DO WHAT!? [Sep. 15th, 2005|09:30 pm]
So, I found out who it is on the Board of Trustees. It's Tommy Thayer, who was a Cedar Hills native. Point being, he's on the board of trustees. http://www.kissonline.com/ Go there to read the article from the Oregonian.

Check this out though. . .on November 11, there is a luncheon for the board of trustees. All of them. Dr. Scott Tuomi, who is the sole reason I am going to Pacific, was asked to provide entertainment. Guess who he asked to do some singing? ME! I'm one of two freshman who get to, and I'm really excited. SO! If you have anything that you might want to have signed (I know Tommy Thayer is kind of new to KISS, but hey, he's still in the band), let me know, and I'll give you my mailing address. . .Fletcher, this means you.

WTF? [Sep. 7th, 2005|10:20 pm]
[How I'm feeling: | cheerful]

Seriously, WTF? I don't even know what I'm WTFing, but WTF? Everyone I know is posting their schedules, so I'll be a part of the faceless mob and go along with what peer pressure tells me to do. Ahem, my schedule is as follows:

Monday:
Mus. 111 Music Theory 9am-9:50am
Hum. 100 First Year Students 11am-12:05pm
Hist. 240 Latin American Studies 1pm-1:50pm
Mus. 163 Chamber Singers 3pm-4:30pm

Tuesday:
Mus. 111L Music Theory Lab 9:25am-10:40am
EDIT: Mus. 159 Early Music Choir 1pm-2:15pm
Mus. 150 Choral Union 7pm-9:30pm

Wednesday:
(See Monday)

Thursday:
Mus. 170 Private Voice lessons 10am-11am
Educ. 260 Fundamentals of Education 1pm-2:50pm
EDIT: Music 159 Early Music Choir 3pm-4pm

Friday:
(See Wednesday)

EDIT: So, that's a total of 17 credits. 18 is the maximum.
So as you can see, pretty easy schedule. Lots of choirses (like hobbitses), and music classes. And lot's of space between classes to goof off. (read: Do the homework for the next class)

Also, something I thought was interesting . . .recently a new member was added to the board of trustees. And guess what he did for a living? HE WAS IN THE BAND KISS! I believe I heard it was their lead guitarist, but I'm not sure, all I know is it isn't Gene Simmons. If anyone can dig up information on who it is, I will . . .I dunno . . .not kick you in the face.

And that's about all. Yep. Have a nice day. (Well, not all of you. . .you know who you are. . .*glares*)

I am an angry bear! Grrrr! [Aug. 18th, 2005|03:58 pm]
[How I'm feeling: | pissed off]

So, I went to Les Schwab in order to get my tires fixed. . .had to get them replaced. Now, I'm seriously pissed. That's like $130 that my family DOESN'T have. Seriously, I hope we can find the little fuckers that did this, but I know that chances are slim. In the mean time, I'm going to moan and bitch and eat Oreos until I get fat.

By the way, if you wanna see me perform, I will be at the Arabian Breeze this Saturday at 7. Kind of a lounge singing gig, I'll have a keyboard, and me, and some songs. Mostly nice easy listening, as well as Billy Joel. Come if you want, and have a good time.

Edit: So ummm. . .it looks like my back two may have been hit too. They were both looking pretty flat this evening. So now, I'M going to have to pay another $130 dollars or so. . .ARG! I HATE PEOPLE!

Summer. [Jun. 22nd, 2005|01:59 pm]
[How I'm feeling: | bored]

*falls on face* Bored bored bored board. Got my laptop yesterday. A Dell Latitude D810. Pretty nice. Pacific recommends certain laptops (You know the really expensive ones) so my family pitched in, and my grandma and grandpa are buying a me a printer/scanner/copier to go with it. So that's cool. Unfortunately, I can't go online because we have Cable, but not wireless. So, I'd have to hook up to my modem, but I don't have authorization, so I'd have to install some junk on my laptop, so I'll just wait until I get to college. Works for me!
